One Step forward, two steps back

I have been quiet on the blogging front lately, was busy with this that and the other.
So where am I in the app process...back to square one I think. First I decided to rethink my school selection because it was hasty and now I am actually in the process of doing some introspection! Somewhere while researching schools I realized that I have to have a concrete answer to the following questions before I can select schools

Why MBA?
Why Now?
What after MBA?
What five years after MBA?

Not that I did not think about these before but I really need to write these things down and be very clear about it. Am I doing the right thing or just losing too much time? Also are there any other questions I need to ask of myself before I can finalize the schools?

Any thoughts are much appreciated

I believe getting the right answers to those questions is vital. Also, why a particular school is a very important question. but as far as I know, a superficial answer to those questions wont make the deal. well researched answers would show that you have put in the thought and hard work to clarify who you are and where you want to be, and that hopefully should help.

to me, you seem to be on the right track, but remember, this is after all a game, so remember to play it in the right spirit. good luck.

From what I learned going through the process, the grandeur of your future goals is not as important as the linkage of them to what you have done to date and how the MBA is going to compliment the transition between the two.

Make sure you set very realistic goals and show how the individual programs will help you get there.

What I have done so far? -is also an important question to consider. I am going through the same process - answering these questions. What springs to my mind - is that - the b-schools are not interested to hear that "I want to be a CEO/finance leader blah of a XYZ corp". Rather, it's the "why" which is more important. If one is interested in finance or ABC, why is that the case?

I agree with you. Definitely need to write them down, because afterall they have to sound convincing to AdCom. I need to do the same.

Good luck to you. Keep your progress posted. Cheers! : )

I'm with you on this one. I swear the more research I do on schools the more confused I get! Good luck to you! Keep us updated on your progress!
